Notes on the correct identity of Phalaenopsis arunachalensis (Orchidaceae)

Abstract

The recently described species Phalaenopsis arunachalensis K. Gogoi & K. Rinya has been reduced to synonymy under Phalaenopsis braceana (Hook.f.) Christenson. The authors of P. arunachalensis have compared the taxon with the morphologically similar Phalaenopsis taenialis (Lindl.) Christenson & Pradhan but have not taken into account P. braceana to which the taxon is alike. The affinities of P. braceana and P. taenialis have been discussed.
