On the identity of seven interrelated species of Eragrostis (Poaceae: Chloridoideae) in India

Abstract

Mode of spikelet disarticulation in Eragrostis amabilis, E. ciliaris, E. ciliata, E. coarctata, E. deccanensis, E. riparia and E. viscosa are similar i.e., from apex downwards. Furthermore, they are interrelated in a number of morphological as well as floral characters. Hence, their circumscription and identity have considerable confusions in India. The present study provides the reliable taxonomic characters to distinguish them unambiguously
