Dendrobium herbaceum subsp. singarajana (Orchidaceae): a new subspecies from the Eastern Ghats in Odisha, India

Abstract

Dendrobium herbaceum Lindl. subsp. singarajana S. Misra subsp. nov. is described from the Eastern Ghats of India in Odisha. This subspecies differs from the typical subspecies in having a short stature; the stem with a very few branches; the side lobes of the labellum sparsely gland dotted, with crenulate margins, the disc bears two long slender ridged callosities; the columnar wings broadly rectangular; anther broadly cordate, broadest at the front edge; pollinia slender, slightly falcate.
