Inventorisation and Mapping of the Grasslands of the Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary, Rajasthan, India

Abstract

During the floristic explorations in the Bassi WLS, the vegetation type map is prepared to study the status and composition of grasslands and savannahs of the sanctuary. Further, the grasses and grass associated plant species which are the chief fodder preferences of primary consumers in Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary are documented. A total of 69 taxa under 59 genera belongs to 16 families are identified from the grasslands and savannahs. Disturbance indicators including the invasive alien species in the Bassi WLS which are menace to biodiversity are discussed here.
