Cypripedium himalaicum (Orchidaceae), a new distributional record for the flora of Arunachal Pradesh, India

Abstract

Cypripedium himalaicum Rolfe belonging to the family Orchidaceae is reported here as an addition to the flora of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The species commonly known as ‘The Himalayan Slipper Orchid’ was earlier known from Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim and Uttarakhand in India and four other countries (Bhutan, China, Myanmar and Nepal). The species is categorized as Endangered by the IUCN.
